People think financial planners love share but this slide simple shows that history does. The slide compares a $10k investment into a term deposit versus Australian shares from 1991 to 2011 (20 years). After 20 years the term deposit remains worth $10k and produces annual income of $6,000, as compared to the shares capital worth $240k and produces annual income of $14k.
You can simple add a 0 to these figures to determine what an initial investment of $100k would be worth (i.e. shares $2.5m producing $140k income) now compare that to your standard 3 bedroom home over 20 years.
