Australian Housing Snapshot

  • Investors are clearly the dominant players in the domestic housing market with first home buyers (FHB) comprising just 14.7% of new loan commitments as at July 2013.
  • Investors are acquiring more dwellings with larger loans, which is a likely result of the dramatic increase of SMSFs over the last decade.

Indices:
The Australian All Ordinaries Index has moved down decreasing by -2.3% since closing last Friday to 1:40 pm today.

The rest of the world as measured by the MSCI index increased +1.3% in A$ from closing last Friday to end of trade Thursday.

Have a great weekend,

The team at IPS
